Since DH moved to the bris airport for work after leaving job in toowoomba I only go to 'the swich' now. its only a 20 min drive. We just need to start an organic veg shop....especially with the super base nearing completion more families are going to be moving there.

If you can give me some pointers about great places to go in Ipswich I would LOVE it!
We were just checking out land/property prices there and it seems like its actually do-able!
I love Ipswich as it has such a community atmosphere. Because people have given the area 'heaps' all this time, the people here are very proud of our city. Yeah it may not be as rich as Brizzy or as posh, but its changed so much lately.
We now have a huge multicultural presence and celebrations to match. We are getting plenty of new restaurants, hotels, clubs, gyms and there are many great parks for the kids. If you are into swimming, there are two pools in the area and heaps of swimming areas in lakes and the like, although you do have to be careful, some of them tend to get Bull Sharks in them.
There are martial arts clubs, belly dancing (which I do and highly recommend), yoga, meditation, health and beauty spas and many many different schools. Basicly, if you want it, you nearly always can get it.
Queens Park is fab for the kids and adults too, it has a huge playground and lots of open spaces, it has a newly developed eating area/kiosk, it has bbqs and rotundas to have picnics under and Queens Park has a kick ass animal enclosure with emus, kangaroos, dingos, birds, farm animals, and bilbies and reptiles. And its all totally free. At the park there is also some beautiful Japanese Gardens and a theatre nearby.
So you see, Ipswich isnt what it used to be, and most of the attitude about it is totally misguided and unfair. Its a great place and still cheap. Well worth a closer look.
P.S No, I didnt get paid to write all that....but I prolly shoulda! ha ha ha
melchpeppi
16-10-2009, 12:30 PM
hahahaha- Ive been the Queens Park and I love it!! I really love the wide expanse, it is really special. We have the new Centenary Hwy extension here and it takes no time at all to get there for us, so Im intent on learning more about it :D
I must admit that I love the pride in the city that it has! My DP works there and looks like we will be here for awhile :D.

Ugh, summer babies should not happen in FNQ!
Of course just west of Cairns (south-west even) there's the "naturally airconditioned" Tablelands - a hinterland area of green rolling hills, dairy farms, rainforest, waterfalls and beautiful wonderful people. :p
Mind you, it's been up around 30 degrees and sunny here for a week or more. It is usually much cooler and it rains a LOT.
I'm in Gympie, which so does not deserve its reputation as helltown or anything similar. It is full of very nice, genuine people.

OH that's close. I saw some great "breastcancer fundraiser" pink ones in a catalouge somewhere recently. Not sure which one now. I thought it would be fun to clear out my old pegs (some of the blue ones are faded and some aren't, and that's just making it difficult to match) and get a bucket full of pink ones!
Strathpine is definately my stomping ground. I've lived in a few houses around Bray Park and Lawnton.
Does your DS like the Chipmunks or Go Wild play centres?

My DS LOVES both those play centres, and so do I! DS is having surgery next week but would love to have an outing there with the shire 'gang' soon.
Oh and I lurve Maleny-ish Chooky! So beautiful. (Not that anywhere else is less but I just can't get enough of Maleny.)

We are renting a house on a postage stamp-sized block in Moggill at the moment. I like the local shops ever since I saw Bernard Fanning there :). And the Moggill ferry is very cool. In a few months we swank our way over to Pullenvale where we will have S-P-A-C-E! So that makes me located in the West somewhere right? Maybe the outer West? I feel so far away from everyone and I don't have a GPS.

In fact, my mother refused to take the washing in if the pegs weren't matched... she couldn't bear to go anywhere near the washing line... :sarcastic
So I'd peg out the washing and go to work on a Saturday morning (f&v shop until 7pm then babysit until 6am back to f&v shop for another shift until 1pm) and get home on the Sunday knowing she'd have left them there... :p

I hope I'm not to blame for a few more little peg matchers.
Phoenix
27-10-2009, 09:54 PM

28-10-2009, 12:07 AM
Well if someone else put clothes on the line for me I wouldn't take the pegs off to match them...but I can't put two non matching ones on the same piece of clothing.
I have been known to rehang some stuff others have thrown on the line though.
Snoozie
28-10-2009, 12:27 AM
hahaha I am guilty of matching peg thing and I am really fussy on the pegs that go on my nappies and I do rehang those if DH has hung them particularly badly (imho).
I'm nowhere near as bad as I was... I figure hey they're doing it so I don't have to and if I want them to do it then I have to suck it up that they're going to do it a different way!
Also from up in Toowoomba. Thinking about moving..but I just love the place too much.

But hey, there are worse things so I'm happy to let my obsession be. I did however had to reel myself in when I started allocating a section of the line per family member. I *must* match my pegs by type and colour. I have certain pegs for certain items, particularly for DS#3 nappies and for thick socks. I also have the pink breast cancer pegs :) I hanf washingin a particluar way and I can't help but re-hang is anybody else does it.

Stay well away of Kallangur Primary. I removed my daughter from there as there was a huge tolerance for bad behaviour with no solution. Undurba, (right between Kallangur and Murrumba Downs) is a good one. Small but getting bigger and quite a good rep. Dakabin primary I have not heard too much about. Petrie is a small school and by all reports lovely. Beautiful grounds too. Kurwongba is another fantastic, smaller school. I have my children at Narangba State. Small school, I know quite a few of the teachers (I went to high school with them) and a lot of the families. I actualy grew up in the area and a lot of the families I grew up with have now got their children at the school.

Back to the OP...I'm at Moorooka on the southside (a bit lonely as most other IPers seem to be northside!)

Moorooka's a great place for most things (except traffic noise, depending on where you are) :)

Hey hey.. new here, just thought I'd stick my hand up. In Surfers at the moment, have been in Qld less than 3 weeks so have yet to see most of it. Took a drive up Tambourine Mtn the other day, very beautiful. Burliegh looks nice too. I dont know if its because everyone is in permanent holiday mode, but so far my impression of Qld'ers is that they're much more open and friendly than us sandgropers; (dont take it to heart ;)) a lot more smiles and hello's on the street!

Hello S! :)
Welcome to IP! You can go into the Intro forum and write a little bit about your journey as a Mumma. I also did a thread when little man was on his way so you are already known by a few people here lovely as they shared in your birthing journey!
