Hi all,
wanting to draw on your wisdom... Ellie has learnt to ride her bike- so consequently she is falling off and getting a few sores and bruises.. anyway-= she's one for band aids.. so it's challenging to keep an eye on the condition of her wounds at times..
So I managed to convince her that I needed to take off one of her bandaids- and the sore underneath is very festy- pus and red around the outside.. another lot of convincing enabled me to clean her sore a bit, until it started bleeding, and then (basically having to sit on her) I managed to sprinkle some tumeric on it..
So- I intend on putting breast milk on it later this evening when she's asleep -but any other thoughts from you guys?

tea tree oil works well to clear infection. We have have success many times with infected cuts from falls - and no bandaid, it needs to dry out.

Tea tree or manuka honey, even swabbing it with salty water will help (although sting somewhat)

Yep, no bandaid, it needs to dry. Soaking in salt water works well too.

I know- no bandaids- very challenging for her- she feels that it must have one.. it's off now.. and i snuck a peak at before.. and popped on some breast milk I'd expressed.. it's looking a lot better.. amazing.. I'm hoping that it will dry out in the night. I'll pop on some more bm before I go to bed..

Colloidal silver is good for infections, too, but it sounds like it's already on the mend.
Bandaids give my kids' rashes a lot of the time.

I have the total opposite in my house. B hates bandaids! He will scream when you are trying to put it on and makes more noise about having one on then about the sore. Once he had blood pouring out of a sore and I put a bandaid on it and he totally freaked out and when I took it off he was quiet and said thank you then went on his merry way. :2lol
I too agree with Colloidal Silver, it fixes everything!!
breastmilk is my antiseptic of choice :) can't get much better

Breastmilk and honey.... I've always used honey for infections on my horses as it draws out the bad stuff :)
my mum also used to put a drop or two of pure vitamin E on things so they wouldn't scar

glad it's started to heal!
chooky, do you use regular honey?
Manuka honey bw... or medihoney. :D
I use clay (green, white or poultice) in this household... with or without a bandaid. Gabrielle is the bandaid bandit around here!
