Read this (http://accidental-greenie.blogspot.com/2009/09/sigg-ceo-says-sorry.html). And then this (http://accidental-greenie.blogspot.com/2009/08/what-was-sigg-saying-about-bpa.html). And then if you bought your bottles through Biome (http://biome.com.au), you can contact Tracey on info@biome.com.au for details on how to exchange your bottles with old lining.

If you bought them elsewhere, you might like to contact your supplier and see what they're doing about exchanging bottles.

I've just packed up a big parcel full to send (reply paid) to Biome and emailed off my replacements order.

I deliberately never bought any because of the plastic lining. I don't trust anyone who won't tell me what is in their plastic. Glad to hear there at least fixing the problem now.

You can also post them directly to Sigg... will get the details. :)

You need to email Sigg Australia and they will let you know the details to send them in. :star

There is a store here that sold them who is taking them back and giving new ones regardless if you bought them there or not.

However... I am sooooo mad at SIGG... they cashed in after the whole BPA thing.. they were selling their bottles along side Kleen Kanteens and claiming their containers were BPA free... LIARS..

I know that $20.00 is $20.00 but I don't want a new one.. I'm so mad I don't want to be carrying around one of their new bottles. They lied to me. I will not endorse their product by sporting it.

We only had one.. but STILL... they KNEW didn't they... Everyone was exchanging their Avent bottles and the like.. and they cashed in on it.. and they flipping KNEW.
Greedy little beggars!

so giving me a new bottle with no BPA in the lining will make me forget that my kid drank all that lovely fake estrogen.. specifically when I was trying to avoid it? thanks.. a replacement bottle isn't going to cut it.... that is just giving me what I paid for in the first place.... now how about they extract all the BPA from my daughter's little body? That would be an even deal!

I've got 8 of them here to return. Some of them cost $45+, so it's quite a lot of money I invested.

I do hear ya though Pinky. xx

Yeh, we all (8 of us) have 2-3 metal water bottles each. I'd have bought all SIGG except I found others cheaper. The lining didn't really occur to me at the time. I believed their claims that it was safe. Sigh.

Thats how I feel Pinky :(

But I have nearly $300 worth here and I just can't afford to replace then right now :blushing

I am so cranky that I thought I was doing the right thing by my kids and I spent alot of time researching (well i thought I did :() It was a huge outlay of money for me and I really thought I was doing the right thing :angry

Another one who has multiple SIGG bottles. We all invested thinking we were doing the best for our kids health and now find we have been lied to.... mm I wonder if any other big companies lie to us?
Having said that I sent my bottles back to SIGG for replacements, I can't afford to re-invest in different bottles at this time.
But still!!!!

It's ALOT of money isn't it? Really makes you wonder what else companies have gotten away with?

Yes it is :(
We don't just have that money lying around to go out and buy another lot

Not many people do Wems, I wonder what else this company could do to redeem themselves ecause as Pinky said all they are doing is giving people what they paid for in the first place... Perhaps more bottles for free? or some kind of gift voucher? I know that nothing they do will ever truly redeem them from lying to so many people it just seems strange (and slack) that all they are doing is what they said they would do in the first place? nad whose to say they aren't STILL lying.....

I had one but never loved it..I found it a nuisance to clean tbh. Still annoyed that they lied as well, it was an expensive thing to buy I think I paid $45 for mine from a shop I hunted down. I think they owe consumers a big apology.

I think there is a class action suit against them somewhere... they are trying to cut the numbers.. I've heard if you exchange your bottle you are basically getting rid of your evidence and therefore cannot join the suit.

Dunno if that's TRUE.. just a rumour!

But this buggs me

http://www.cbc.ca/health/story/2009/10/06/bisphenol-bpa-pregnant-girls-behaviour-study481.html

I mean get your chemicals outta my kid! It really bugs me because we were in the know.. we tried to do the best. We ate tomato sauce from glass jars not cans. We only ate canned food by eden. we bough organic and drank from Stainless Steel containers.. AND STILL... we are getting bombarded with it...

makes me want to take my kids to McDonalds and give them drinks in juice boxes and individual fruit servings in plastic #7. I wonder if moms who do that stay up at night? I do.

$45.00 wow they are pricey over in Australia.. mine was only around 20. still though I know people who have 2 per family member so they have 8 or so.. yeah the money does add up... so sucky.

I had a gut feeling about them but couldn't put my finger on it... so I bought Kleen Kanteens and Eco Tankas for us but it's a very expensive exercise at the best of times and it certainly makes you wonder on the company's ethics.. :sad

Soul Mama.. can I tap into your intuition.. you have a good one!

Sure Pinky... but the journey I've been on for the last 8 yrs as a mother has taught me that nothing is as it seems and that if I'm not 100% sure on it.. it's not worth the risk. :(
