Do you throw spilled salt over your shoulder? are you wary of black cats? are you convinced that if your hands are itchy you'll be meeting someone new? ever walked under a ladder? got a pair of lucky undies?

Are you superstitious? if so of what?

Nope. It's fun to acknowledge stuff like itchy palms or black cats but it means nothing to me.

It'sAmore!

Nup, not superstitious! I love black cats, walk under ladders, don't throw salt etc. I dated a chef last year who always threw salt over his left shoulder whenever he used salt...made for a messy kitchen floor when he was cooking!

I do however, always blow a kiss to the girls whenever I leave their room after tucking them in...I'm very particular about how I do the kiss and how I stand when I do it (gosh it sounds weird now that I type it!). I have to do it whenever I leave their room and they're in bed - so if I have to go in there 10 times one night, that's 10 lots of kisses blown!

What about stepping on cracks in the pavement? Is that a superstition or just a rhyme?

Not superstitious here at all. I do do the have to kiss DD at bedtime, and always kiss DH and DD before I or they go out, but not for any superstitious reasons.

I don't think I am superstitious. I probably believe in Karma more then superstitions.

never heard the itchy palm thing before.. huh..

ah I guess a little but nothing crazy... like I don't kill spiders or open umbrellas in the house..

The itchy palm reminded me that my Gran always said 'itchy bum, money to come' lovely!

I'm not superstitious really, don't open umbrellas inside (too pointy), don't walk under ladders (something might fall on me), try and avoid breaking mirrors (glass shards are sharp!).

My mum has one that I've never seen anywhere else - new shoes on a table/bench brings bad luck.

I think many of the old superstitions were just common sense hygiene (like shoes on table) or safety (ladders, mirrors, umbrellas) and a lot of symbolism (hands, ears and feet come to mind) for the things that people most desired in their lives - like money, love and travel. ;)

Nope, not at all. Sometimes I'll say something about them out loud as a joke, and I went through an obsessive-compulsive thing when I was younger about not stepping on cracks, but that was nothing to do with protecting my mother :2lol

My littlest kids do the not stepping on cracks thing. I'm not sure if it's just a game, or they believe the bad luck thing?

I 'touch wood'. I also like numbers so believe in lucky numbers and think that there's meaning in numbers which pop up most often. I own a black cat (or she owns me), and don't think she's bad luck at all, unless you walk through a dark room at night and trip on her! Umbrellas, ladders, salt, undies - nah.

I must be the weird one, but not sure if it;s superstition or just habit. I try very hard not to walk on cracks, I also put my right leg into my jeans/pants first, I put my right sock on first, I don't walk under ladders, and I do try to touch wood. There's also heaps others that I do....but that's just the way I am :)

Um, I forgot about touching wood. I do that pretty frequently.

Nah, not at all. Most people I know with these sort of habits are more OCD than superstitious, but each to their own :)

I reckon I have slight OCD tedencies, if I see 11:11 on the clock I always make a wish, same goes for the first star I see at night (I also quote the little poem), don't mind black cats, don't walk under ladders cos that's just silly, stepping on cracks feels weird under my feet :2lol I don't know how much of it is superstition or how much of it is me being a weirdo.
Mum always taught that there was no such thing as bad luckonly ways to bring good luck

I've always felt we make our own bad (and good) luck. It's all about attitude!
