I had a better read later, still haven't finished it though. I really loved how he connected the two, very natural yet completely revolutionary for someone so firmly in the the hospital system.

Oh I had thought it was a man! LOL Totally not that it matters but with thinking it was a male and knowing the male Ob's that I have met I was thinking that it was amazing that they would be such a free thinker!

She, like every other doctor, can't sign a collaborative agreement with a homebirth midwife because they'll void their insurance. They can provide 'backup' but the woman has to appear to be their client, have appointments with them, pay fees etc. I hope the govt gets their mess sorted out soon :(

Phoenix, that reminds me of this thing I saw on the news last week. Here's a story with a riddle:

A man is driving with his son. They have an accident and the father is killed, but the son is rushed to hospital for surgery. The surgeon, upon seeing the boy, says, "I can't operate on this boy, he is my son." Who is the surgeon?
