Antoinette, I have had some success with diatomaceous earth. There is a thread (pun intended ;) ) about it somewhere. Will try to find for you...

Oh, you started that thread :2lol so I reckon you know about it... anyway, for anyone else, here it is http://www.intuitiveparenting.com.au/showthread.php?1729-*Diatomaceous-earth*&highlight=diatomaceous

And I'm guessing you either didn't feel comfortable taking it or it didn't work??

I am a bit cautious about taking DE Lucy. Where did you buy your DE from? I wonder if just plain silica from the health food store would do the trick? I need something safe but strong enough to kill em'

I've read that we always have a load of parasites in our system, so don't know if you could kill them out completely? and if you did, for how long?

yeah, wormwood is so awful!

Can't remember where I got mine from, but definitely online feed supplies type place. Found this on greenharvest:

Eating more pumpkin seeds & garlic will help, too.

Nothing kills worm eggs. You need to redose 2-4weeks later to kill the hatchlings before they breed and the cycle begins again.

The rainbow remedy is revolting, but ime is THE best remedy for worms.

You could also shove a clove of garlic up your arse.

The longest we have gone between infestations (when they were persistent a few years ago) is where we have (in conjunction with some kind of worming treatment) vacced the whole house-high and low, washed curtains, mopped, washed all bedding on 60deg cycle, washed ALL underwear and pjs on 60deg cycle at once, trimmed nails and kept short, became obsessive about handwashing, used barrier cream every night for a good straight month, had a very warm shower every morning, ensuring to wash the anus with soap, lowered sugars and refined foods in the diet, increased raw carrot intake, raw garlic intake and as someone mentioned pepitas. Pineapple is apparently also great for worms-creates a degree of alkalinity in the gut that makes the environment unattractive to them.

Garlic up the Arse???? Really!

At the moment I am taking the Rainbow herbal remedy but I feel its not enough plus the taste really makes me feel like throwing up.

I haven't seen any worms in stools but getting the Symptoms like itchy arse, nose, ears & scalp, diarrhea, pretty much everything I eat just runs through me, not been able to loose weight even though I have changed my lifestyle and waking up all hours of the night feeling like I have dinner still stuck in my throat. Oh and the most vile gas ever that I even knock myself out.

I started to experience all this when I was staying with my inlaws after my op who are not very hygenic and ate meat every nite. I nite inparticular I was served a steak off the bbq blood red. I had a peice in my mouth before I realized it wasn't cooked well.

I need to take calcium for my broken bone but if i have worms they are gonna suck it all up before my body gets the benifits.

So I need to kill the little Suckers.

I am worried I have Tapeworm.

Lucylu would DE kill Tapeworm too?

Urgh! They've hit here, too. Noticed them when I was wiping DD's backside on Monday night. I haven't seen any in my stools, but have had the itchy nose & scalp & a few other things pointing to zeh vermies. Saw a homoeopath for DD's ears today & she said that worms were probably from being so run down after a couple of nasty viruses this year. Been upping the pepitas & raw carrot for me. DD not so keen on them, so there's a bit of work to be done. Off to find out more about DE & then work on getting our immune systems up & running again.

I wonder how on earth an itchy scalp can be attributed to worms????

I have no idea about tape worm - only know it has worked for me, but I suspect it works on the little hatchlings best

Sorry you are all dealing with those horrible little buggers. They're awful aren't they?

I wonder how on earth an itchy scalp can be attributed to worms????

Not sure if that is a direct link, or more a sign of generally being under par. Scalp problems are common for me, but I've noticed the intensity of the itching increase with the nasal itching & what appears to be threadworms when I blow my nose. I've also had shooting pains in my bowels that can be attributed to worms. Hopefully I can reduce the numbers & get my immune function back up and all the itching/pain will go away :)

If it were me, I'd suck it up and take the drugs to kill what's in the gut and give me the headstart at keeping them at bay with all the natural remedies. So much energy can be spent fighting the parasites that the cycle never gets broken.
