There was a thread on the old IP about what magazines people like to read.
C'mon, we all like a short and less-cerebral read sometimes... nothing wrong with that! But I like to read something more interesting and occasionally challenging or educational than the celeb trash mags (well, most of the time...).

So far, I've been reading Barefoot and Peppermint, and occasionally Living Wisdom. Am thinking I must pick up something like G Magazine (I've only read it once but it was good). What else is there now that Natural Parenting and Kindred are both online-only?

I read Grass Roots and Earth Garden. I found G mag to be too commercialised for my liking.
I am still upset over Kindred going online only!

i hate that Kindred has gone. I don't want to analyse individual issues via facebook like they are now! WTF! anyway....

I think Grassroots is the mag that i picked up recently and liked... what's the one that Bel has? I think i read that somewhere too and have considered a subscription but can't really justify the cost.

I like Grass Roots, Earth Garden and Warm Earth. I sometimes write for Warm Earth. :) I also like Natural Life (http://spiralgarden.com.au/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6_31&products_id=95) (an international mag). And Barefoot (http://spiralgarden.com.au/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=6_31) - a great Aussie one for parenting/family. And Otherways (http://spiralgarden.com.au/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6_31&products_id=210) for home ed stuff - the only magazine-format Aussie homeschooling mag.

And yeh, I'm a bit of a magazine junkie! But I do pass them on to others who pass them on to others... :)

Aha, Grassroots and Earth Garden, thankyou! I read those back in my pre-kids days, but had forgotten about them. Easy to get too, every newsagent in Canberra seems to stock it.

I occasionally like to read Marie Claire. It has some great articles but sadly loaded with advertising and costs a bomb. I usually just borrow Mum's ones. Oh and I love love love The Big Issue. its the magazine that homeless people sell in cities. You gotta get it, not only is it a fabo read, but half the money raised goes directly to the homeless person selling it.

Does anyone read New Internationalist? Is it good?
Or Mothering Magazine from the USA? I can't even find a list of Aussie stockists for that mag, have previously read it online but I prefer paper.

Ah yes, Notebook! Love the styling and layout in that mag. Some of the community and people stories are inspiring too. But every now and then there's an issue that just makes me go ... erm ... no! This month's issue looks like it would be OK though - Nikki Gemmell is worth reading :)

My Child magazine is good sometimes. I like the "Raising Bethesda" series, it's just lovely to read such eloquent descriptions from someone who seems to be truly in love with her baby.

The only mag I read these days is the odd article that catches my interest from DH's National Geographic.

Barefoot, Essence (ABA), Warm Earth and Grassroots here. Occasionally G Mag, but yeah it is a bit commercial.

For birthy/mothering stuff I like Down to Birth.

Otherwise I am obsessed with Frankie mag........popular culture with a slant on creative pursuits.

I'm sworn off mags now. But I devour them at other people's places. Silly stuff like Inside Out and Gardening Australia Mag. Moo has turned me on to Frankie but I refuse to actually buy it.

I read Frankie, Peppermint and MixTape... Inside out, Home Beautiful... I don't mind Earth Garden from time to time. I'm more about the pictures than anything else ;)

I love street press too-MAP magazine, Brisbane News, recently picked up a LOTL from my hairdressers and quite enjoyed it, too.......

Occasionally we will pick up a Gourmet Traveller or Vogue entertaining-a hangover from DP being a chef.
