Where can I buy organic goods in bulk with reasonable delivery costs to Toowoomba or I can pick up from Brisbane / Toowoomba? I'm talking Grains etc

Would like to buy Aussie as much as possible too.... :happy

I can't really express what I'm looking for can you tell? lol

I have been talking with a group of friends about doing another bulk order from Santos Trading - preferably before Xmas. Will see how many commit and if we have numbers, I'll be sure to post about it here.

Not an immediate solution for you, but have a look at their website and see what you would order.

I'd be up for that Jodie. Was thinking earlier about bulk-buying a bit more for the basics.

Sago, is that arrowroot? I grow it. It is easy to grow.

Only Oz are based in Brisbane - www.onlyoz.com.au
I have nothing to do with this business, but I rave about them a lot because I luff them! Just wish it didn't cost so much to get shipping to Canberra, maybe they need to franchise their system so there can be Only Oz in all the big cities.
They have only Australian products, with lots of organic and gf. Not specifically for bulk purchases, but it's generally cheaper for me than shopping at Coles or Woolies for the same brands.

woohoo I have a job pretty much across the road from oxygen cafe so I'm going to go look at it tomorrow.

Found Barambah Organics milk today at IGA... it tastes okay so that's good! One tiny step made but obviously going to keep looking for the cheapest and best (not hard to please am I?!) lol

Went to HN today and looked at chest freezers but hopefully I will get the tmx before there current no interest, no repayments, no deposit deal runs out so I'll have an idea of what size I'll need.

Looking at buying in bulk from honest beef (http://www.honestbeef.com.au).

I have a shopping cart with groceries in it at only oz lol still getting an idea of what we want but I daresay the change over to majority/all organic isn't going to happen overnight.

Me neither.

We get our meat from Graham's Meats (http://www.grahamsmeats.com.au/) in Killarney. They provide here for Food Connect but also sell to private co-operatives.

I was suddenly reminded of the limitations of being remote to a major city when I went out checked out our local organic food store last week. Punnet of strawbs- $11.99. Everything else more expensive than I had imagined too :( I ended up leaving with a few treats (date and coconut roll- delicious!...but also exy, of course ;)) and a lip balm!! lol

I guess I'll just have to wait until I can get the chooks and vege garden happening!

I guess I should also enquire at local butchers re: meat too.

Don't feel bad Lindy. I actually think it's more important to eat local produce where possible and that organic philosophies can be rather over-rated (especially if your organic food comes a long, long way to your table).

That is true Jodie! We do have 'local' markets once a month, which strangely sell stuff that you would find in the supermarket! (cold storage). There are some less local markets (45min drive) every week, that I must check out. Only problem is they are on a Sat morn, so it would mean an extra trip to town per week. I think I could probably work it so that I can chop out my Friday trip to town next year though as the boys will be going to a local C&K kindy :-) Food for thought anyway! (so to speak ha)

I think there's a market here the 3rd sunday of the month... will have to look into it! I was trying to buy locally - I just prefer to buy things like meat in bulk hence the looking afield. I think the fruit and veg from Mr Organics will work :)

I like that Grahams offers lamb as well although we're not big lamb eaters.

I just emailed my first organic order produce order :ohmy

1kg Pink Lady Apples
1/2kg Avocados
2kg Bananas (Cavendish)
4 Kiwi Fruit
4 Cobs of Corn
1kg brown onions
2kg potatos – nicola
2 2lt Barambah Organic Light Milk
1 250gr Barambah Butter
1 500gr Molasses
1 270gr Maple Spread
1 1kg Paris Creek Natural Yoghurt
1 500gr chicken breast pack
1 100gr Instant Coffee
1 25pkt Planet Organic English Breakfast Tea

I think I did it right lol I mean I know I emailed it but I'm not sure if I can pick up (they're just on the other side of town). I'm not sure if they have a store front or what y'know?

The maple spread is definitely a luxury!!! OMG I didn't realise maple syrup was so expensive!!! Maybe I should dig up a plunger from somewhere so we don't have to get the instant coffee next time. We have a coffee machine but it takes up so much space and we don't drink it enough to justify it.

lol so you're converting me to non-instant coffee and wems has me looking at raw milk lol

I am so confused on that one as an article I'm reading says,

Children of most cultures have always been fed milk, straight from the animal, sweet and raw. Adults can easily sour it using cultures like kefir and piima or just leaving it out at room temperature. Since most children stop producing enzymes to digest raw milk at around 4 years, non-industrialised people feed adults soured milk as clabber, yoghurt and cheese. Although adults can still consume milk sweet, it is with more difficulty and the multiplicity of benefits from consuming soured milk are missed.

I'm confused... does it mean that raw milk is only beneficial up to 4 years and then it becomes undigestible? I'm sure that's not what it's meaning to say (what's the point of having adults drink it then lol) but I'm missing the point! lol

The point is that we drink milk beyond what our bodies were designed to.. ;)

lol I drink milk in tea and coffee and on cereal heehee I don't drink milk by itself.

The kids don't drink milk either... think I should rectify that????

Our diet is pretty crappy (hence the complete overhaul).

The kids don't drink milk either... think I should rectify that????As long as you are getting the nutrienst etc from other forms there is no reason why any human needs to drink cows or any other form of milk :) passed being weaned from the breast ;)

Back about 8years ago in my healthy eating days when I studied loads of healthy eating concepts (I say all this so you understand i have forgotten alot of the reasoning behind why I do some things).

I remember reading that most adults are actually lactose intolerant. I think they are just not sensitive enough to notice it.
