so, are you registered? if not, why not? Also interesting to see the surveys of why people decide to homeschool.

our local homeschool group shared that article around.
i personally am happy to register.... but i know a lot of people who aren't. i guess the attitude of the local "authorised person" can make a big difference.
i liked the commend about homeschooling underground! i pictured hobbits. :)

We had put DD into school when we decided to homeschool, so really we had to register because she was already in the system. I think I probably would have registered anyway though because I like having the guidence and support of our moderator. There are some moderators that I can see you wouldn't want to be registered under, but mostly they are there to support you.
I guess it would come down to why you home educate. We do because we feel DD will get a better education at home than in the schooling system and we feel confident that we are capable of enabling her learning. Thankfully our moderator agrees. But if your motivation for HSing was religious or political, than your answer would be very different.
There are some HSers locally who didn't even register the birth of their children because of their distrust of the 'system'.

I haven't read it, but I've heard people talking about it. Have to say though, most people who aren't registered tend to keep it quiet, and I don't think you'll get many people admitting it on a public forum like this!
We register. But I can see why people wouldn't. It's a hassle, a lot of paperwork (and home visits in other states), and you often feel like you, and worse, your child, are being judged. Many people who are homeschooling are doing so to escape that!

80% of Queensland homeschoolers don't register... for all sorts of reasons! :)
