View Full Version : Getting Bout/Travel Team Fit!!
Moneypenny
09-10-2009, 10:13 AM
Ok girls, I am going to really, REALLY put myself out there with this. And I might just loose some respect with some of you when confess but I figure it will help me in the long run.
I am a smoker :unsure
Some of you already know this. I want to quit. I want to loose weight. I want to get fit. I want to be accountable. So I thought there would be no better place to get support for all of these things than here.
So here is the plan...
I weigh 97.6kg as of this morning. I am going to keep a food diary and exercise diary. I am also going to be cutting down ciggarettes with the aim of quitting by 20th November, K's Birth Day. I have the chance to be selected in the travel team to bout the southside Brisbane league on 29th of November which is my trigger to loose this weight and get fit. The smoking thing, well, I figure I can keep making excuses forever if I want to but I am not.
So there it is! Keep me accountable girls!
I wanna be a lean, mean, derby MACHINE!!!!

Go gt!!! :)
Go GT! You can do it! (Do you need me to break out the pom poms?)
Actually, let me know if you need an excercise buddy.... maybe we could get together and take Av and Tabi powerwalking!
we are right behind you girl...

You'll be happy to know my DS assisted last night by eating the chocolates I put away for you.
I'll try do my bit.
I think food and eating well is hard for a busy Mum, and what you need to feed growing children is not necessary the same food you'd feed a training athlete. I think we need a thermomix so we can make our own healthy food easily.

You can do it S! Good on ya, hon!
I've been trying to lose weight for about a month, but only lost a couple of kilos and plateaued. I think I need to take a leaf out of Kyls' book and join the gym as sitting on my butt at this desk all day doesn't help...
Now, where did I put those pom poms?! :2lol
I saw a photo of you the other day GT and I thought you had really lost a heap of weight and toned up. I think you are well on your way.
Best of luck with it.

remember to drink plenty of filtered water, and maybe you could put aside the $ you'd spend on cigarettes for something extra nice just for you as incentive? maybe? just a thought!

Moneypenny
09-10-2009, 07:44 PM
ok, strategy is this.
Read "the easy-way to quit smoking" (again :blush)
Cut down at least one regular cigarette every 2 days for the first week.
Keep a diary, recording times and situations I have a cigarette.
Second week, after identifying the trigger times and reasons, eliminate one of them (triggers that is) either by modifying the behaviour or cutting it out.
Third week, cull another trigger and one regular cigarette.
Fourth week, only have two per day and two in the evening.
Fifth week, only have one per day and one in the evening.
Goal week, one per day until smoke free day 20th November.
shit, you know that writing it down is really making it real. And extremely anxious!!! :hide

So, exercising and food has been pretty good. I have been managed 3 skates since sunday. But dammit! Lost my right stopper monday arvo so that does make things a bit difficult..... :Lol I really need to get a new set of bearings too, because I need to change over my wheels when I do an outdoor skate because my indoor wheels are too soft and getting chopped up :cry Anyone have an old pair of skates they dont want anymore that I can pinch the bearings from? ;) Oh and note to self, ALWAYS wear safety gear, a pram is no protection from falls and knee slides on bitumen suck.......

Hey S I only just saw your thread - GOOD FOR YOU!
I would love to join you and mercurious for a walk / skate (BTW haven't skated since I was about 10 and don't own a pair!).
I don't need to lose weight BUT I am SOOOOO Unfit and UN healthy I started a health kick of walking last week. MUST BE THE SPRINGTIME clean up energy in the air making us all want to clear out the cobwebs and make a fresh start!
Let me know about the exercise thing if you want company.... (I am one of those people that needs the motivation or i don't do it!)

Hi Green Tara, go for it. You can do this!

22-10-2009, 10:16 PM
so things have gone a bit pear shaped in my life right now, but I WILL still stay on track! I kicked out my cheating husband last night so life is a bit stressful. I am going to lean on my friends, and not chocolate or food. I am allowing myself a bit, because if I totaly ban it, I know I will break and then gorge on it.
The smoking thing has had a huge hit. Not surprising at all. Not going to beat myself up about it right now though.
So, where am i. I havent weighed myself, but one old faithful pair of pants I have is getting silly big. I have adjusted the waist as tight as they can go and they are still comfortably loose. Awesome sign :D I havent done any outdoor skates this week, but did a social skate and scrimmage on tuesday night. I will have to get a skate in tomorrow. Travel team tryouts are on Sunday. There are 16 people trying out for 12 spots. It should help me that I will be seeing my ex's face on everyone that I block ;)
Moneypenny
22-10-2009, 10:17 PM
yep, totaly, no nudity, no sex, some derby violence, one bloody nose, no drugs, a bit of drinking and swearing

Moneypenny
27-10-2009, 12:20 AM
Well tryouts rocked! It was nearly 2 hours of scrimmage, which is practice bouting. I was told that my skating and blocking had improved out of sight. I had lots of comments that it was pretty bloody impossible to knock me over and I managed to get pretty much everyone I hit down. It was AWESOME! I do feel like I have been hit my a truck this morning though :D
Only problem is that we probably wont find out who made the team until quite close to the bout. I cant wait in suspence that long!!!! :thud

Hey GT - strength to you on your journey as a single mum.
With the smoking, now is probably not the best time to beat yourself up about it. Just take it day by day. I have quit, but I used Zyban tablets. They were great (except you have trouble sleeping) I had no cravings, withdrawals, irritability etc.
Also, I can't recommend the biggest loser club website enough - you don't have to do meal replacement or anything. I follow a little of their menu, but also use "symply too good" recipe books also. I just find the caluculator and the whole energy in vs out thing great on their website. It costs though but is not expensive.
Hugs and strength to you GT, pm if you wanna chat xxx

Soooooo, we have team intensive training saturday from 9 till 2. FUCK!!!! I need to go, but the ex is only able(well, thats what he says) to mind them 12:30 till i get home around 3. Mind you, if I let him take them up the coast to his little ratsnest with my cheating ex-best friend, he would take them friday night.... prick. Anyhoooooo, what I meant to say is that I got another good sign from the coaching/selection team tonight. One of the coaches grabbed me to ask if I was comming to the intensive day. She wanted to know if I could get the kids sorted and if not, there is a tv and play room there for them. I am taking that as a good sign :D

i thought i updated this earlier today/ i dont know what happened to it....
I went shopping yesterday with Bec. She thought I needed a new pair of jeans that the crotch does not hang half way to my knees. so we went to Endos and grabbed a bunch of stuff. I kept putting back size 16 stuff but Bec kept them and told me to try them on. So long story short, I got some lovely new clothes that fit, an awesome pair of jeans and a fantastic pair of shoes! Now the fun bit, the jeans and skirt are 2 sizes smaller than what I would usualy try!!!!!! SQUEEEEEEE!!!!! And I must say, the jeans look HOT! *gigglegigglegiggle*

Yup underneath all those big baggy sacks there's some dangerous and sexy curves, and your legs really do go all the way up....
You look great in your new gear GT, I think maybe you have reconnected with your body again a little too.
I'm wondering if it just feels a little safer for you to look sexy now that you don't have someone around thinking it's a green light for them.
gonna run, gonna scream, gonna crawl right on your knees when realize that no-ones gonna measure up to me. It dosent matter cause im over it now!.......' wise words from the Goddess P!nk ;)

So, fitness is my focus right now. It is getting really, really hard to find time to get all that I want to do in. I have less and less time for myself now and it is killing me. I am also finding it really hard to train as much as I want for derby because I have to take all the kids with me and they hate it. Well, the older 2 do anyway.
