Ouch that looks nasty. Is there two puncture marks? if there is I'd say a spider bite...If he has a fever I'd take him to a doctor healing vibes to him

when did it happen? i would be off to the doctor myself, unless it happened a few hours ago.

You're in Brisbane I think? Might make a difference. I would say it's a green ant bite to be honest. My (half-English) girls and I have copped the works over the last few years, and I don't think this is very serious. However, a GP will reassure you. I had several spider bites in bed a couple of years ago - INTERESTING :o

Thanks everyone... I vaguely remember something being there this morning but only saw it fleetingly.. he seemed ok at the time. :confused1

Kyls, I can't see if it's two bite marks or one properly so I don't know. :blink

But he just had a really unsettled night last night. Temperature and waking and crying inconsolably. Then when I picked him up this afternoon he was the same.. clingy, hot and crying. I showered him and he just wanted to go to sleep so he did at around 5:50pm. :shrug

He hasn't woken and he seems ok... I don't know what to think. :(

D, we are an hour north of Brisbane.

confusing, hard to know if the bite (or whatever) and the fever are related or not. I would be seeing someone in the morning if he is no better. Or now if he is getting worse. Just what you need hey! Hope he is fine tomorrow.

Hmm...can you take him to ER? I wouldn't be concerned but for the fever and extreme fatigue.

I would A but we have an average 8hr wait everytime we go there..... I can call a home visit GP if need be and they'd be here within an hour.

I was going to suggest that. it would be good for your piece of mind ( and mine) and you wont have to leave the house.

If it were something major, he'd be dead. I don't know how old he is, but pre-schooler-ish, and he'd have communicated if it were a neuro-toxin (e.g. redback bite). Any signs of the fever before the bite? Could it be an allergic reaction to a mosquito or similar? A different species to normal would be all that it takes. They reckon there's none in Tmba, but I've been bitten four times by mozzies in the last three months. They find me wherever I go <cranky pants>.

I do under-play things, admitedly, but I haven't been caught out yet. I'd be looking at all other possible explanations first.

He's 2 and a half D. He does usually point out if something hurts and he didn't really mention it but he didn't like me touching it - pushed my hand away.

He seems to be more settled right now and the temperature has abated. Breathing seems fine so I will keep an eye on him and if he's not himself in the morning I'll get him to the Dr... I have a friend who's husband is a GP so if there's a problem I can ring them.

I'm also wondering if he's had an allergic reaction to something he's eaten (we know he's allergic to egg and strawberry but it could be something else. :shrug) and it's just coincidental that he has the bite mark as well. :(

Ant was my first thought - spider second.

We have TONNES of green ants in our garden, so I'm getting pretty used to seeing their bites :( When I scored heaps of spider bites, they were incredibly itchy, and went blisterish, pussy, probably because of all the scratching that I did :o They were pale in the centre though, swollen, but surrounded by red flesh, not nearly as neat looking as this is.

He is just fine today... loud and back to his usual self and he slept straight though the night too even though I did put him in my bed around midnight.... :)

The bite is still there but not as angry looking.

Ouch C that bite looked hot hey? Was it warm to touch? Glad he is better today :heart

J11 is allergic to mosqitoes, and that's what his would look like. He'd get muscle/joint pain & a fever.

Sorry girls.. being around hospitals as much as we already are, I tend to not over stress too much but I do know when I'm too worried about my kids and just do it. ;)

He's fine and happier than he's been the last few days and I've made an executive decision for him to miss tomorrow's Christmas party and stay with his dad. :great

The bite is still there, I showed it to my friends today who agreed it's an allergic reaction (which I knew) so hoping it goes away quickly.

I am going to miss him for the next 3 or 4 days though. *sigh* Sometimes I struggle with having to leave them behind but the next week is just going to be a whirlwind. :yes
