So, what do you all do during the holidays? Is it very different from your usual weeks?
We slow down or stop any formal book work in the holidays. And none of our regular classes or activities are on.
We go to the library, swim, watch tons of movies, visit friends, do sleepovers and just chill. Most of the kids enjoy the holidays, but some think it's a little quiet. My 15 y.o. will probably work a bit more at the supermarket over the holidays, so that'll keep her busy this time. :)
I do planning for the next year, 'Spring' cleaning, and sleep in a bit (well, I did before I got cows)!
Summer hols are my fave. We'll stay home for most of dec, doing what you've described above.
On Jan 4 we are off to stay in Mum n Dad's caravan at Evans Head for 3 weeks. Maybe going to Arrawarra beach for invasion day weekend, and spending NY with friends at Burleigh. Trying to convince Racks to do Woodford for her B Day (dec 29).........IF we have the ca$h spare.......

Summer hols were always my fave as a kid!! This will be our first 'school holidays' Haze finishes up at kiner on the 15th Dec...We don't really have too much planned as we're still not 100% sure of the time Veg will have off, we will be heading up to the caravan as much as is humanly possible or Mum will take the kids up with her while we wander around the house aimlessly bumping into things cos we're lost without the kids :rofl
I would sell Veg's right nut for a trip to QLD a ROAD trip especially take a few dyas driving up spend a week or so there then take a few days driving back....
Oh and I'm pretty sure Veg is beginning to organise his boys trip away they go a couple of times a year just the lads 'fishing'...well that's what they call it anyway I call it a group of grown men acting like teenagers :rofl they usually leave either on a Friday night (it's like a 6 hour drive to where they go) or really early Sat morning (still classed as Friday night in my book :rofl) and come back Sunday arvo and sleep til tuesday :2lol

The holidays are never long enough. We enforce a few TV and computer game rules (limited screen hours) and we adopt a regular screen-free day (usually Saturdays when the board games come out of the cupboard). We read a lot, do craft projects we don't have the energy for during term, swim occasionally, have fires at night, and somehow the time just flies.
We're planning two weeks up the central coast with family over Xmas and New Year which I'm really looking forward to this year - although it will make the holidays feel shorter than ever.
I LOVE holidays,no routine longer days, relax time. Its a bit weirder now I am a single mum and now the kids spend half (ish) the time with their dad, so I work when they are there an make the most of the rest of the time, we usually spend most of that precious time on the coast with family or camping

Yup- no routine, sleeping in, PJ days, visiting, beach, movies- and we usually manage to get away for a few days to a farm stay or something. I can't wait!
:hyper:hyper:hyper:hyper
Yeah I can't wait till school is finished here
I love holidays :heart
Sleep ins, PJ days, kids just do what they want when they want all day long, no huge dramas to have them inside and fed and cleaned for a half descent bed time
Grae will have 4 weeks off over christmas so the kids get to spend lots of time with him
We will head to Tin Can Bay for a few days between Christmas and New Year's with my Aunty :yipiWe have a great house right between the river and the bay this year :)
She didn't go last year (and we missed her terribly) because my Grandfather was really sick and we only got 2 nights in before we had to rush back for his funeral :(
Grae and the kids will camp out in the back yard and I will get the house to myself for a few nights :)
I think we will spend alot of time out at dad's farm this year because the kids are getting go karts.....so will take them out there

We have only one real rule over the holidays, brush teeth and shower once a day.
Other than that we just relax, cook, eat, play, crafty stuff, swim, take boat out, watch tv & movies, xbox get a work out...some days I call a screen free day(nothing that involves a tv screen.)
we are moving over the next week and a half, then off to Victoria for family xmas in a beach holiday house at Ventnor. back NYE to spend a few day settling into the new house...we will really only have 4 weeks of home time, then DS2 starts prep....OMG.

Well this will be officially first school holidays. Jess finishes school on the 14th Dec so just over 6 weeks of holidays. Crazy from now to christmas with appts and parties and birthday parties left right and centre starting with Jess's birthday ending on the 23rd with mum's birthday and then christmas.
Boxing day we head to geraldton for a week till the 2nd Jan so looking forward to it. Plan to spend it on the beach sunbaking, reading, chilling and watching the kids run around like crazy with their cousins.
Then in Jan planning to take the kids to beach, zoo, AQWA, visit friends, send the kids off to my parents for a few days. Then probably last week of Jan organising school stuff for Jess (full time pre-primary) and Dan (pre-kindy).
Bath/shower at least once every 24 hours and brushing teeth twice a day is a must. Clothing optional as long as they wear clothes when we go out.

Today was our first day and it didn't go so well. :(
I'm hoping to do some cooking and craft activities. I'll limit screen time and try to get them outdoors a bit more. I'm hopefully meeting up with a friend a bit to go for walks. DD1 will still be in daycare 2 days a week and we'll still have playgroup and swimming for half of the holidays. Also the ILs are taking DS for a few days after christmas, he'll enjoy that.
It's the first year that DH will be working, he's only getting the public holidays off. Would have been nice to go away for a week, but we'll just have to do it another time.
We usually go camping. This christmas we are camping twice. The first time just for a week and the second time for 10 days. I am not sure how we are going to go with the O2 but I will manage.
I love the freedom from technology and time restraints that comes with camping. Our bodies really get tuned into the earthly cycles and we listen more to our bodies and to each other. We find a lot of our stresses are gone when we are together as a family unit in nature.
we have 3 weeks of swimming lessons starting in the first week ( 14th) then we will wonder down to adelaide sometime the week of xmas back to ceduna before new yr. Then back down to adelaide the weekend before the 11th for 2 more weeks of swimming adam has to return to ceduna a few days before we as teachers go back before the students...

Our kids are on holidays from lunchtime next Tuesday (8th). First week is busy with ballet concert/music concert/grandma staying. But after that it is all about no routine, going to the pool often (5 minute walk away and we have a family season pass), beach, cooking, craft, friends over.......... Apart from the fighting that sometimes happens and the mess that I have to let go off, its lovely!

I too am soooo looking forward to the holidays.
I just want to get myself motivated to do some things with my children. Some real quality time. With all that is going on in our house at the moment, I just can't get off my bum, let alone focus and *be*.
But I will get there.
Very much looking forward to the holidays. Yep :hyper

Not a lot will be different here. Except I am SO SO SO happy that there is no threat of DH working, and he will be home with us the whole time! First time since we were married.
